Baby News

There's so much going on it's hard to know where to start!

First teeth - Rohan is showing little bits of white poking through his upper gums. His left incisor tooth is sticking through most, so he'll probably look like a little vampire once those come in. He chews on everything he can, and the drool is maddening. We just bought him some teether toys you can freeze to make them feel good on his gums.

Growing! - He grew an inch and a half last month, which is a lot, considering he has gone from 20 to 26 inches in his total 5 months. He now weighs over 17 lbs and is wearing mostly 9 months clothes (except for Baby Place stuff which is right on in it's sizes). He's now getting to wear more of the fun stuff Laura and Mom have sent, like t-shirts and shorts. Before he pretty much lived in his footed PJs, which are still a bedtime staple.

Starting on real foods - tonight is planned for his first meal other than breastmilk. About a teaspoon of organic brown rice cereal mixed with breastmilk is the menu. This marks the start of weaning, which I am hoping to do very gradually until he's 12 months... He'll probably have one meal a day for a while, in the early evening before his bath. He's been watching us eating and copying our hand and mouth movements, which is a big sign that he's ready to start. You should see him pretending to chew!

Drinking from a cup - The bottles we have came with little caps that double as baby cups. I have some breastmilk stored to feed him, but he won't take a bottle. But when I offered a little in a cup he just loved it! Cold, too! He ends up with more on himself than in his mouth, but he's trying his best...

Rolling over - Rohan's favorite hobby these days is trying to roll over. I've only seen him do it 2 times completely unassisted, but if you set him down he usually just keeps trying. It's so cute! He rolls on his side and then keeps sticking his face down to try to get some momentum to keep going. He tries to do it in the night nonstop if we set him down to sleep on his back.

Well, he's waking up now...

I was talking to Sameer and wanted some updated pictures of Rohan and he told me about this blog. I have to commend Lisa for weaving such a wonderful thread. We started to read and went all the way to the beginning and seeing the pictures and the story of 2007 Christmas just brought back the good feeling. It was one of the best weeks we had with Kishor, Chaitya, Gorakh and you both at our place.

Rohan is so adorable! I think our visit to G'ville is long overdue to see this bundle of joy. Hope to see you guys sometime this month and also Sam's new look is hot...

We Love You Guys!
