Week 33, 7 more to go!

Here we are with only 7 weeks left til the official due date for Rohan's appearance on October 25. We asked our doctor yesterday if she is seeing more babies showing up ahead of time these days, and she said "no". It still holds true generally that your first baby will be just off the due date by a few days, usually on the later side.

But, there's no way to tell if he may be one of those that decides to show up early, so we are getting our hospital bag ready and things in order just in case.

Sameer maintains that the human race is evolving so that babies are not only smarter and grow up faster than they did in previous generations, but they also need less time to gestate. Maybe it has something to do with his 3-week early appearance... But if anything is likely to influence the date the baby is born, it could be the mother's own birth experience. Apparently I was right around the due date. And I was on the small side at 6.2 lbs.

As we get closer, we are finding we are very calm about both the delivery and newborn care responsibilities. We have learned so much over the past few months and really taken it upon ourselves to be prepared - we know we'll be fine as long as things proceed normally. It's really the things we can't control that are worrisome, like if there are any complications during birth and a C-section become necessary, etc. Anyway, those things are in God's hands, and that makes me pretty comfortable enough :)
