Easter Weekend

It's Easter weekend here, so we had a holiday for Good Friday. I think we really needed the 3-day weekend and just took it easy. Saturday night Salil, a friend from the badminton club whose wife is also from Nagpur dropped by to visit us. It had been months and months since we'd seen him, and Kim was still in India finishing up her internship, so we had a good time catching up with him.

Sunday I took Sameer to a sunrise service for Easter. It amazes me the things he does for me sometimes! I had really wanted to go to this rather than a regular church service, as this was held in a very special place outside (I'll explain the significance in another post soon). But it meant getting up at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning, just when we'd be happily snoozing on a weekend, getting that much needed sleep-in. The service was quite nice, but my sinuses were acting up so I ran out of tissues and we had to leave a little early. We topped off the morning with breakfast at Waffle House just like the old days, and I went back to bed when we got home.

Easter is the most significant day in the Christian faith, as it celebrates the rising of Jesus Christ from the dead after he is crucified. This is significant because his death represents the sacrifice that atones for the sins of mankind, and his rising offers the promise of heaven after life on earth ends. If you're interested, Wikipedia here outlines a lot of information, including plenty that I didn't know!
